News flash: Second heats
(06.09.2009)

After warming up in the morning, competitors went on to race in the second heats at 10 AM. Guino Kenis (BMW 120) was fastest in division 2, Johan Larsson (Citroen Saxo) won in division 1A, and ... was fastest among the division 1 drivers.

Division 2:

Marcin Wicik of Poland won the first race. Apart from several spins along the way there was some late drama for Josef Iro and Patrick Mertens. The Belgian collided with the Czech at the very last corner of the race, damaging the Skoda Fabia's steering. Both drivers managed to get through the finish line. The second race was won by Guino Kenis, who led from start to finish. Roman Castoral did not make it through to the finish, suffering a mechanical failure on the third lap.

Division 1A:

Division 1A did not provide any drama, apart from Tomasz Nowak's stall at the start line, causing him to retire from his heat. Vaclav Veverka, Eduard Leganov, Johan Larsson and Mats Lysen won their respective races. Johan Larsson set the fastest time, being less than a second quicker than Mats Lysen.

Division 1:

First race of the second heats in division 1 was won by Ole Kristian Nottveit. The drivers caught by the heavy rain yesterday competed in the second race. This one was won by Kenneth Hansen who finished ahead of Sverre Isachsen and Frode Holte. Jussi Pinomaki topped the results of the third race. Yesterday's leader, Andreas Eriksson was surely a win contender in the last race, but was forced to retire after a mechanical failure on the third lap. This heat was won by Stig-Olov Walfridsson ahead of Michael Jernberg and Even Hvaal.
Kenneth Hansen was the quickest overall, being 1.2 s quicker than Sverre Isachsen.

The complete results of the second heats are available in the "results" section of the site. The racing continues at 12:30 AM with the third heats.
