While for some the third heats are a moment of relaxation, for the others they are the battle for life in the finals. Michael Jernberg (divsion 1), Lukasz Zoll (division 2) and Ulrik Linnemann (division 1A) were the fastest ones in the action packed runs.
Division 2:
Marcin Wicik won the first of the two division 2 races. Lukasz Zoll won the second one, and was fastest among the ones that took part in the third heats. Both Guino Kenis and Jos Sterkens did not appear on the starting line.
Division 1A:
The first race of the division 1 heats was very dramatic. Gabor Bankuti held an early lead, but he went off the track on the third lap and had to retire. Vaclav Veverka was hit by bad luck once more, having to withdraw after a mechanical failure. The Pole, Tomasz Nowak won thie race. David Johansson won the second race after passing Stanislav Susta on his joker lap.
Timur Timmerzyanov was quickest in the all Russian heat. Ulrik Linnemann won the last race, setting the pace overall in division 1A. The newly crowned division 1A European Champion, Mats Lysen, did not take part in the third heats.
Division 1:
It was the division 1 again that provided the fans with most action. Andreas Eriksson led from start to finish in the first race and won quite easily showing some impressive pace. Others did not share his good luck though. Rene Munnich collided with Gyorgy Fodor in the second corner of the first lap and had to retire once again. Gyorgy Fodor managed to do only 2 laps more, grinding to a halt after a mechanical failure.
Per Eklund and Even Hvaal had an adventurous race, colliding in the first corner, pushing the Norwegian off the track. This was however interpreted as clear fight, so no actions were taken. Eklund was later passed by Ole Kristian Nottveit and Pavel Koutny while on joker lap.
Sverre Isachsen and Jussi Pinomaki led initially in the next race, but only the Norwegian managed to continue in this fashion to the finish. Pinomaki was caught and passed by Frode Holte and Kevin Procter on the last lap, eventually coming fourth.
The last race in division 1 was dominated by Michael Jernberg, who also ended up being the quickest of the third heats contenders. Multiple European Champion, Kenneth Hansen had a little scare during this heat bumping into the barrier, but no significant damage was done.
